Canadian architecture firm Dialog (550 FTE, offices in four cities) attended the Dutch wood building event "Houtdag 2016", organized by www.houtblad.nl. Mr. Daria Khachi (wood engineer) and Mr. Craig Applegath (founding principal) of www.Dialogdesign.ca met with Dutch delegates at CaGBC 2016 in Toronto. They decided to look for a Dutch collaboration partner for wood building design. They had a good two day visit, organized by the Embassy of Canada, an active partner of the Parallel 52 network.  They met with Dutch (tall) wood building architects and with renowned Mr. Hermann Blumer (Swiss).  Swiss exports of engineered wood products are renowned, Blumer's firm worked on projects globally. Sterl, the architect of HoHo in Vienna presented on his 20 storey tall wood tower being built at the moment. It was interesting to hear about obstacles he had to remove to start with the project.Dialog will attend CaGBC 2017 in Vancouver, where some of their wood building designs can be toured. The Dutch and Canadian government will once again collaborate on a Dutch mission to CaGBC.
