Mission & Vision
Parallel52 is a non-profit organisation with an ideal of collaboration between the sustainable building sector in Canada and the Netherlands. Canada and the Netherlands are similar in spirit and acknowledge worldwide climate change. They are both well developed in sustainable planning and building, each with their own expertise. By sharing this expertise both countries can reach higher sustainable goals. Parallel52 has as goal to improve this knowledge sharing between the two countries.
Parallel52 wants to reach this goal by making companies, governments and universities aware of innovative and sustainable products and project that might be interesting to implement. There are different ways to do this, for example by setting up interesting connections, organizing events and publications. These interactions might lead to new projects or collaborations for/between participants.
The value of the network will probably increase with CETA, the free trade agreement between the EU and Canada, which is expected to be signed in 2013. The EU expects $ 18 billion in new business between the two markets.
The output of the Network is:
Knowledge sharing on sustainable development of the built environment in general
Interaction between Dutch and Canadian businesses and universities in concrete projects
Share Best Practices in specific technology such as climate control, energy saving technologies, urban agriculture, health and wellbeing in buildings, LEED/BREEAM or the Living Building Challenge
