Dutch jury member in Ontario student competition

Fanshawe College in London Ontario organized a Renew the Environment urban design competition for College and University students in Ontario. The goal of the competition was to improve the Western Fair District in London in a social, environmental and profitable way. Two specialists not related to London were invited to be part of the jury; Professor Michael von Hausen from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver (author of the book Dynamic Urban Design) and Dutch sustainable building professor Anke van Hal.

International Wood Day 2015

The international Wood Day  2015 in Castellum Hoge Woerd in De Meern was a great succes with 180 participants and both national and international speakers.

As previous editions this event on November 26 themed 'Vooruitgangspunt hout' had a structure of plenary and round table sessions. The speakers inspired participants with among others high-rise timber structures, wood building methods, wood innovations and building earthquake-proof with wood.

Project: Under Gardiner, Request for Proposal

The City of Toronto has announced it will use a $25-million donation from two local philanthropists to build a new trail and “cultural spaces” on the unused land under the Gardiner Expressway. The initiative, called “Project: Under Gardiner,” is a partnership between the city and Waterfront Toronto that aims to transform approximately 10 acres of unused land under the expressway into “vibrant community spaces that will play host to a range of cultural programming.” (Source: CTV News Toronto)

Workshop Sustainable Housing and Neighbourhood Transformation

June 5th, Architecture Faculty Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada

Following the Canada Green Building Council Expo and live video Cisco sessions, Parallel52 in collaboration with the Dutch Consulate in Toronto, Cisco, City of Toronto, Ryerson University and Nyenrode Business University, conveyed a private workshop in June, 2014. This workshop was a reputable finale for the Toronto – Netherlands collaboration over the last months.
